Specialties - Shark Awareness - R1180 Buy

Why Shark Awareness?

The most fearsome creature in the sea is also the most threatened – doing this course not only teaches you respect for one of the most perfect predators ever to be on earth – but also highlights the plight of the shark – extinction!

What do I need to start?

  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 12 years old

What will I do?

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of diving with sharks in general and the ragged tooth shark in particular.
  • A basic overview of major aquatic life groupings (kingdoms and phyla).
  • Factual information that dispels myths of potentially dangerous aquatic life.
  • An overview of basic aquatic life interactions and associations.
  • Responsible human interactions with sharks.
  • Diving technique used to minimize disturbance.

How long will it take?

  • Recommended Course Hours: 6
  • Minimum OW dives: 2 dives – daylight hours only

  • Material to be handed out

You may count this Specialty certification toward one of the five required Specialties for the Master Scuba Diver Certification.
