Why Shark Awareness?
The most fearsome creature in the sea is also the most threatened – doing this course not only teaches you respect for one of the most perfect predators ever to be on earth – but also highlights the plight of the shark – extinction!

What do I need to start? PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) Minimum age: 12 years old

What will I do? The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of diving with sharks in general and the ragged tooth shark in particular. A basic overview of major aquatic life groupings (kingdoms and phyla). Factual information that dispels myths of potentially dangerous aquatic life. An overview of basic aquatic life interactions and associations. Responsible human interactions with sharks. Diving technique used to minimize disturbance.

How long will it take? Recommended Course Hours: 6 Minimum OW dives: 2 dives – daylight hours only

What Next? You may count this Specialty certification toward one of the five required Specialties for the Master Scuba Diver Certification. Digital Underwater Photography specialty is the perfect combination course to do or with your Shark awareness course.
