What is a PADI Staff Instructor? - R4800 Buy

PADI IDC Staff Instructors are PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers who have successfully completed an IDC Staff Instructor course. They work with PADI Course Directors to develop instructor candidates’ teaching abilities as well as shape their attitudes as dive professionals.

What are the pre-requisites?

To enroll in a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, you must:

Be a renewed, Teaching status PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
Agree to conduct all PADI certification courses and experience programs using methods consistent with PADI Standards and philosophy as outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual.
Agree to use the PADI System and components in its entirety.

How Do I become a Staff Instructor?

The IDC Staff Instructor course is divided into four steps:

Pre-assessment,
Knowledge Development
Evaluation Training,
Auditing an IDC.

The course is conducted in conjunction with an IDC. IDC Staff Instructor candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements to be certified as PADI IDC Staff Instructors.

What will I do?

During your training, you will overview the entire PADI Instructor Development program and learn to act as assistant during instructor-level training courses

What will I need?

Open water and confined water presentation evaluation slates
All materials as per IDC

How long will it take?

You have to audit and entire IDC. We will also need a day extra (before the IDC) to conduct training and lectures.

How do I register for Staff Instructor?

To apply for certification, an IDC Staff Instructor candidate submits to PADI a completed IDC Staff Instructor Application signed by the Course Director, along with a photo and application fee. Upon approval of the application, PADI will issue a PADI IDC Staff Instructor card

What can a Staff Instructor do?

A renewed Teaching status PADI IDC Staff Instructor is authorized to:

Independently teach and certify PADI Assistant Instructors.
Conduct IDC training segments under the supervision of a PADI Course Director.
Evaluate and critique instructor candidate knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations.
Provide counseling and remedial training for instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates.
Assist with training during instructor-level continuing education programs.
Observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI Instructor Examinations.

Renewal

The PADI IDC Staff Instructor rating is renewed when PADI Instructors renew their

Membership annually. IDC Staff Instructors who have let their membership’s lapse may be required to retrain before assuming any IDC Staff Instructor responsibilities.
